The Russian River isn't deep enough to host a lot of swimming holes, but, in the summer, dams are put in place that create great places to swim. Public beaches include Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach, Sunset Beach (Forestville), Johnson's Beach (Guerneville) and Monte Rio Community Beach (Monte Rio).
Please be careful swimming in the River - it's a lot stronger than it looks! And only the very strongest swimmers should even consider swimming in the coastal waters.
If you're looking for a pool, the Rio Nido Roadhouse Pool is open every summer, and Ives Pool in Sebastopol is open year-round.
